Children of Mary

The words in the image (above) are of the Franciscan saint-martyr, St. Maximilian Kolbe, which I found on a chalkboard in a home in the Shenandoah Valley, circa fall 2017.  Here are the words:

My dear, dear brothers, our dear little, little mother, Immaculate Mary, can do anything for us. We are her children. Turn to her. She will overcome anything.”

It would be lovely if St. Maximilian could time travel to tell us, in person, this advice. I can imagine you, or I, meeting him on the way into church, worrying about the children, the bills, the state of the world, the health of a loved one, anything, and he is standing by the door with his notable (according to those who knew him) calm, and seeing that he is a Franciscan priest, we would be inclined to tell him of our worries, and he would reply as such (above). In such a scenario, I imagine that you (and I) would listen to him, and pray the Rosary with renewed zeal each day, trusting, as it were, in the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Well, he is not going to time travel to tell us this advice (at least, I do not expect such an event to occur), but, none-the-less, the advice is spoken to us; spoken in his recorded writing, for writing is simply one person speaking to another person, even if it be across time. When I saw the chalkboard, Fr. Maximilian spoke the words to me, even if he was/is long deceased, dwelling in the Kingdom of Heaven.

So, today, let us hear the paternal advice of one of the greatest saints of Church history, a man tested, and proven: a true father, yet, a friend.

My dear, dear brothers, our dear little, little mother, Immaculate Mary, can do anything for us. We are her children. Turn to her. She will overcome anything.”

Have a good day, Children of Mary.
